If you missed the Suwannee River Jam Band Auditions
Friday night at the Music Hall, you missed one heck of a show!
Four bands from across the region took the stage in the hopes of earning a coveted spot in this year’s Suwannee River Jam line-up. Each hopeful band had a half hour time slot to prove they have what it takes to play alongside country music’s biggest names, including Hank Williams Jr., Clint Black, Trace Adkins, Chase Rice, Gretchen Wilson, Craig Campbell, Frankie Ballard and more!
Dylan Gerard Band, YellowMoon Band, Doc Adams Band, and Justin Spivey Band each made the most of their time on stage and had the crowd on their feet dancing with a mix of country covers and original songs. At the end of the night, two bands earned their place at the 2019 Suwannee River Jam.
The bands taking the evening’s top spots were the Justin Spivey Band of Axson, Georgia and the Dylan Gerard Band from Jacksonville, FL.
Justin Spivey was 2018’s Georgia Country Music Awards “male artist of the year” finalist and his band is made up of highly talented musicians; Logan Inman and Aron Dixon share electric guitar/lead duties while bassist, Jason Chancey, and percussionist, Austin Lane, combine to add a solid foundation and backbone for the group.
Dylan Gerard is a native of Northeast Florida and was a member of Team Adam on the 13th season of NBC’s The Voice. He was recently signed by SSM Nashville artists. His band includes Joshua Wicker, Andy Starling, and David Church.
This weekend a second band audition will be held at the Fiddler Crab Festival in Steinhatchee beginning at 1 p.m. just after the last solo and duo audition (begins at 10:30 a.m.). On March 8 at the SOSMP the solo and duo finals will decide which of the solo and duo winners from Jan. 11 and Feb. 16 will move on to play at the SRJ. That same night the last band audition will also take place. Make plans to see these Jam hopefuls before the big show!
